We are long time lovers of gorgeous organic cotton sheets. It’s a thing. ecolinen was founded because we are also into sustainable, organic practices. When we went looking for organic, sustainable quality linen sheets we realised there just weren’t any – not back when we started. How hard could it be to make that happen, we asked? It turned out that it was pretty darned hard back then and we had a huge journey ahead, with so much work involved. But you know what? It has been worth it! When we started, people thought we were a little bit nuts to care so much. Now, decades later, the world is waking up to the same idea – that sustainable and organic is the way to go.

What started as a mutually curious venture has evolved into a wonderful long-term relationship and together, we work to produce the highest quality bed sheets and bedding, made with the purest fabrics available in the world today.

We manage the entire process – from our partner farmers to delivery to you. It keeps prices to partners fair and costs to you as low as possible because we don’t pay agents along the way. That’s how we deliver such high-quality linens at such great prices to you – the ultimately lucky owners.

Why what we do still matters so much
Supporting organic growers matters now more than ever. We saw first-hand the impacts of a toxic textile industry while travelling through Pakistan and India in the 90’s. Fast forward and in recent decades the global cotton industry has been self-destructing as farmers were sold genetically modified (GM) cotton seed. They were promised higher cotton yields and greater profits. In reality those farmers are now exposed to more chemicals than ever before – and make less money. On top of this the big national retailers and global brands now own the majority of the market, pushing their own brands and private labels to increase their profits, reducing competition and sustainability.

That’s why we are also part of the GOTS certification process – you may have wondered what GOTS certification labels are about – it’s about delivering sustainable farming practises and a safe work environment for all people involved throughout the entire supply chain. From our farmers to factory workers, we know that they’re treated fairly, paid correct wages and have the best resources and education for today and the future.

Tim and Jen are the beating hearts (and smart minds) behind the lovely world of ecolinen. Born as nature-loving New Zealanders, now living and working out of the beach and bush of Sydney’s Northern Beaches, they are deeply committed to continuing their fight to bring change to the cotton industry.
